Convenience Foods While Traveling

Whether we’re headed to Edmonton for the weekend or Costa Rica for a few weeks, one of the first things I pack is food!

There is no beating around the bush.. I love eating. Things can go from frolicking in the sand to Godzilla storming the city in search of a snack in a quick hurry, so I find that I need to be prepared with choices that I know will help me still stay on track. While I recommend all of the options listed in the attached infographic, there are a few items I’d like to highlight that also pack well inside your suitcase for longer vacations.

Whenever I travel I always carry my favourite protein bar and jerky which I keep on me at all times in case a moment of hanger is upon us. I love the individual Jack Links beef jerky servings you can get from Costco and always recommend the Kirkland protein bars for their price point. Popeye’s Supplement Store and Busted Barbell Supplement Store both have a ton of other flavours as well.

Protein pancake mix makes for great breakfasts if you are either staying at a place with a kitchenette or even just a hotel room with a microwave – simply add water and turn the protein pancake mixes into a mug cake! This way I know I’m starting my day off right with a deliciously balanced breakfast and don’t have to eat EVERY meal out. Kodiak Cakes from Costco, P28 Pancake mix from Popeye’s or Flapjacked mix from Busted Barbell are all great choices for this.

PB2 powdered peanut butter is also an easy pack. You can just add water and have peanut butter anywhere! This can also be found at Popeye’s and even in some grocery stores.

My water bottle stays filled and in my backpack whenever I head out for the day. When you’re doing excursions and whatnot, there may be times when you can’t find potable water wherever you are.

Yours in food,

– Ashlyn
