It Is So Much More Than Looking Good in a Bathing Suit
After challenging workouts you will always find me on the floor on my hands and knees trying to catch my breathe and collect myself
My shoes and wrist wraps and sometimes even my socks get tossed to the side in an attempt to cool down. During especially hard ones I may even have to sit down for a while after that. Do I like this feeling? Not overly. Do I like the results that benefit from it. Most definitely.
Exercise is a celebration of what our bodies can do, not a punishment. Everyday I have the choice whether or not I am going to move my body. To nurture it, to feed it, to care for it. It is the least expensive thing I own, I obtained it for free, but it is also the most important thing I will ever have in my possession. Eating well and exercising is a form of self-respect and too many times I see people taking that for granted. I took that for granted at one point too!
I’ve worked with people whose “ah-ha” happened when either themselves or someone close to them were being stripped of the choices they have with their body. Ask anyone who has had that taken from them and they will tell you that you don’t HAVE to move, you GET to. While exercising and eating well can do wonders for our confidence, it is so much greater than just looking good in a bathing suit.
By making the choice not to move or not to care about what we put in our bodies, we might just be leading ourselves down a path where one day we won’t have the choice. Envision how different life would be battling chronic disease. It’s obviously something we would never wish for ourselves (and if you are someone who wishes it upon others this definitely isn’t the page for you then) so let’s set ourselves up for the healthiest, happiest lives we can possibly live 😊 It only takes one step to start your journey.
