Fight or Flight – Which Would You Choose?
The fight or flight response. A.K.A, acute stress response.
This is the body’s physiological reaction or survival mode. It occurs when we come across something we feel is threatening – physically, or mentally, and you should not be in this state under normal circumstances. It is triggered by the release of hormones that prepare our bodies to either stay and face the situation, or run away to safety. It can kick in when we aren’t eating enough, when we’ve trained so hard that our central nervous system doesn’t know which way is up, when you’re in a dangerous situation, and so on. Those are the times it kicks in naturally, without you even really knowing that it has.
Fight or flight is actually an age old representation of the choices our ancestors had to face when placed in a dangerous situation or environment. They could either fight, or flee.
But then there’s the times we have the choice to fight or give up. Some call it motivation, willpower, accountability, even laziness and these moments can define what paves our path in life. When things like our health, fitness, relationships, business, beliefs are questioned the choice is ultimately yours – will you give it 💯 to save or decide to let it drift away and choose its own course? It’s your call.
Things will happen for a reason but you can play a very large role in the outcome. So the question is.. are you the type of person who will fight for something or let it go to take whatever path it’s going to take?
