Welcome! If you don’t already know me, my name is Ashlyn Newlove and I am a wanderlusting, dog loving, fitness fiend with dreams as big as my personality. If you have gotten this far, you are probably looking for some weight loss and nutrition insight and felt like perhaps I was the  gal who could help you out with that. You are 100% correct!

I am a Precision Nutrition certified Nutrition Coach and have helped more than 500 people crush their health and weight loss goals.

I totally understand the struggle of wanting to take control of your health but having no idea where to start. It took me years of failed fad diets, costly exercise programs and personal training before I finally figured out what actually works. I was overweight and out of shape, had no direction and no clue where to start. The final straw was after my first year of university when the top button fell off my jeans and I started noticing this discoloration on my hips. It turned out to be stretch marks from the rapid weight gain I was experiencing. I had not gained the ‘Freshman 15’ but more like the Freshman 40.

My first attempt at weight loss lead me to a Weight Watchers meeting. I lived for the weekly weigh-ins to determine whether or not my week was successful. Reflecting on the fact that I had a stranger weigh me in public is so mortifying. While I did reach my goal weight, it taught me nothing about how to maintain my results and I gained it all back again.

My second attempt was tracking 1000 calories per day for an upcoming week-long Mexican vacation. Again, the weight loss results happened! But once the plane touched down I binge ate and drank the entire week since I had been so extremely restrictive beforehand. Not only did I come back 10 pounds heavier after those seven days but I then gained back the rest of the weight I had lost and then more.

My next attempt had me believing that if I just started working out and drinking protein powder I would reach my weight loss goals. It really is true what they say about not being able to out-train a bad diet. I lost no weight in that attempt.

I then tried an extremely low-carb approach. My energy levels were absolutely terrible and it lead me to have insane cravings and be constantly thinking about the foods I was restricting from my diet. Again, another fail.

Next came a Paleo challenge my gym was hosting. It sounded perfect! Could I really lose weight eating copious amounts of bacon and eggs for breakfast every morning?! It turns out you cannot. But I didn’t know this and I in fact GAINED weight from this challenge.

I was utterly defeated by this point. It had been a decade of failed diet attempts and I was tired of it. So I started researching. And testing. And it turns out you CAN actually lose weight without starving yourself and restricting food groups while eating foods you actually enjoy. Luckily I have already tested out all of the things that DIDN’T work so that I can give you something that DOES.

I have wasted countless hours, energy and dollars on things that didn’t work so you don’t have to.  My goal is to help others so that they don’t have to go down the same path I did. I spent many hours and countless late nights creating and perfecting my  Total Transformation Nutrition Coaching Program which helps people reach their body composition goals and maintain their results so they don’t ever have to “do another diet again”. I put everything that I did to lose 35 pounds and keep it off all these years later into my proven framework that has helped more than 500 people reach their goals too. 

I know how it feels to fail. Lose all hope. Have your confidence be completely shattered. And that’s why I can connect so well with my clients throughout their weight loss journey. I have felt the ups and the downs. Doubted myself. Then learned what it really feels like to flourish and actually reach your goals with something sustainable.

I was also given the opportunity to launch my own podcast, The Butterfly Effect,  so I could share my experiences and expertise with anyone who wants to listen. As well I started vlogging my adventures on my YouTube channel so people can get a real bird’s-eye view of all my antics and shenanigans. My creativity is bursting at the seams, sometimes so much it keeps me up at night thinking of all the things I want to offer!

My husband, Curtis, and I have three dogs, Gracie (the Lab), Keefer (the Shih Tzu) and our newest baby, Bella (the Great Dane), were born and raised prairie proud in Saskatchewan, Canada but have recently ditched the cold winters and made our move to Cowichan Bay, BC on Vancouver Island. We absolutely love traveling and throwing down in the gym together and have taken a ‘livin’ our best life’ approach to everything that we encounter on this crazy ride. There is no idea or dream too absurd, we live for the challenge!
