Something Left You Feeling Down?

On Episode #6 of the podcast I was asked the 11 questions that Tim Ferris came up with to ask over 130 of the world’s most successful athletes, entrepreneurs and experts for his book Tribe of Mentors.

Question #4 was “If you could have a gigantic billboard anywhere with anything on it, what would it say and why?” My answer was.. Don’t let anyone dull your shine. I mentioned that the Episode #3 guest host, Jess Bonish, had used it to describe someone, that they were the type of person who wants to try to dull your sparkle. That they thrive off of other people’s misfortunes, and unfortunately there are a lot of people out there in this world like that. It resonated with me because I truly want to see the best for everyone, I wouldn’t wish anything bad on anyone even if our personalities clash.

There are people around who want to see you fail and they thrive in those types of situations. Don’t let someone else bring you down for who you are or what you want to be. This is our legacy so do you want to be known as that person who went out and at least tried the things that they did and didn’t let someone’s opinion hold them back? Which also ties into my mantra of “not giving a sh*t what other people think”.

Or will you lay awake at night wondering about the what-ifs that you might have missed out on because you were too scared of what other people thought? Do you based on what you want to do and not what other people think you should do and leave a legacy that you will be proud of.

There are the people in this world that lift us up and unfortunately there are the ones that want to try to bring us down. We only have one life to live so my question to you is, do you revel in people’s misfortune or are you truly happy to see someone succeed? If you passed are you certain people would say the things about you that you want them to say or would they remember that you were happy when people failed at things or came in last place? Are you finding yourself comparing your worth to the success or failure of others? No one’s success is dependant on someone else’s failure. The only thing you can control in this world is you, so you do you and do it well!
